Dear Satori Staff and Families:

We enjoyed roller skating and visiting with you last night at Arizona Skate Center. What fun! By popular demand, we scheduled another night of skating on March 11.

Gift wrap sales and Entertainment book sales are underway. Any last minute gift wrap orders can be turned in on Friday. Thank you all so very much for participating. As of today, we have earned $3,300 in gift wrap sales. You may order online throughout the year and we will get credited for half of your purchases as long as you include the Satori account number: 117954.

We still have parents who are not signing their child in and out. If you have questions about the procedure, please ask. Any of the staff are willing to help. Your next bill will reflect a charge for each day a child is not signed out.

Reserve your space for the Parent and Educator Workshop with Nathan Levy on Saturday morning, September 20. Come by or call to register. Advance reservations are $10; admission at the door is $12.

At the Young Authors' Conference on October 3, children in K-5 will be publishing and illustrating their own books.

Extended care programs are going well. Children in the Central building have been painting with their feet and hands and children in the Elementary building have been enjoying games.

Satori is investigating the possibility of the Elementary School building becoming a Charter School next school year for grades two through six. Cheryl, Sherry and Julie were out of the classroom for a few days over the last couple of weeks working on the curriculum part of the application. Thank you for your patience.

Children in grades K-5 are responsible for bringing their own morning snack. Many children who have hot lunch are coming to school without a snack since they do not bring their lunch boxes on hot lunch days. Beginning next week, we will bill $1.50 for morning snack.

Please honor the handicapped parking space. It is illegal to park there without a handicapped parking sticker. Also, a Satori parent received a parking “warning” from a Tucson Police Officer for parking too near the corner of 1st Avenue and Pastime. He cited the Arizona Revised Statute: no parking less than 15 feet from an intersection (including Mesquite Place) or within 30 feet of a stop sign or other traffic control sign.

We have a box in the office for donations to Bookman’s. Please drop off books or CDs that we can exchange for credit. These credit slips then go to our teachers to use for their classroom. Diana Moule, Gabriel’s mom, has volunteered to take the donations to Bookman’s.

Holly Nichols, former Satori staff, is the Operations Manager for Yes-2-Kids. She is asking for donations for new or used items for their rummage sale. All proceeds will be used to benefit the Yes-2-Kids youth sports program. She will be glad to arrange to pick up the items. Call her at 327-7082.
