Satori History

Satori, Inc. was founded in 1988 to address the needs of under-served children in the Tucson community. Our scholarship and discount programs have helped to ensure that our student population reflects the diversity of our community. Our Staff, Board and Volunteers continue to be guided by our mission statement:

Satori School serves a diverse population of gifted and inquisitive children and their families.  We provide a challenging, individualized program addressing the needs of the whole child in a community that values creativity, problem solving and respect. Satori’s nurturing atmosphere engages and inspires a child’s natural love of learning.

We moved into our campus at 3801 N. 1st Avenue in the beginning of the 1994/95 school year. This location continues to serve as the primary classroom and administrative building for Satori, Inc. DBA Satori School, meeting the needs of students from 2 ½ years old through 1st grade, and their families. It was recently modified to be more environmentally responsible.

In our expansion, Satori, Inc. designed and built an award-winning and environmentally sustainable school house at 3727 N 1st Avenue in the fall 1998. This building has been the home of Satori Charter School since the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools awarded a charter school contract to Satori, Inc in 2004. Satori Charter School currently serves grades 2-8 and has consistently performed as an Excelling School.

Satori School is one of the few Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade programs in Tucson that is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Satori has been an important part of our community for more than twenty years.
